Recommendation
To treat acute light dermatosis, gently apply HYPOGEN CARE Wound Care Fluid to the affected areas. The Wound Care Fluid has an anti-inflammatory effect and interrupts the production of radicals triggered by UV radiation, which is a major cause of the initiation of acute light dermatosis.
Direct sunlight should be avoided at all costs until the light dermatosis is no longer acute, i.e. has completely subsided. In addition - if the skin is not too irritated - treat the skin very gently with HYPOGEN CARE after sun care cream to prevent skin tension and drying out as a further consequence.
To prepare for exposure to the sun, apply a generous amount of HYPOGEN CARE Sun Protection Lotion UV65+ to dry skin and rub in until absorbed.
The application lasts particularly long and only needs to be repeated if the treated skin has been exposed to abrasive friction.
Effective spectrum
Light dermatosis is a skin disease in which contact with the sun's rays causes skin irritation. In Germany alone, an estimated 10 to 20 percent of the population is affected by light dermatosis. Irritations caused by light dermatosis are primarily triggered by the sun's UV-A radiation if the skin is overexposed to the sun according to the individual scale of the sufferer. Particularly affected groups of people usually have fair skin, combination skin or dry skin. In technical terms, light dermatosis is also known as "polymorphism" or "polymorphic light dermatosis (PLD)".
The symptoms of acute light dermatosis are
- Itching,
- swollen areas of skin,
- blotchy reddening of the skin, and
- in rare cases, blisters and hardening of the skin (nodules).
Symptomatic complaints occur within 24 - 48 hours after exposure to the sun. Frequently affected areas are the shoulders, neck or décolleté.
Light dermatosis is a special form of sun allergy.
