Recommendation

Hair dandruff

Features

Dandruff is small, flaky skin particles that fall off the scalp. They occur when skin cells renew and shed faster than normal, often caused by dry skin, seborrheic dermatitis or other skin conditions.

Recommendation

Itching

Features

Itching on the scalp can have a wide variety of causes. The most common cause is dry scalp - often accompanied by stress. However, itching can also be the harbinger of an allergy or the onset of neurodermatitis or psoriasis. The symptom should therefore not be underestimated and the scalp should always be monitored.

Recommendation

Neurodermatitis on the scalp

Features

Neurodermatitis is a chronic, non-contagious skin disease. Typical signs are a skin rash and severe itching.

In the case of the scalp, atopic dermatitis occurs mainly at the hairline - that is, on the forehead, on the ears, or also especially in the neck area.

Atopic dermatitis can significantly affect the quality of life, especially when it occurs on visible areas of the head.

Pityriasis capitis

Features

Pityriasis capitis, better known as dandruff, is characterized by the appearance of fine, white to yellowish scales that easily detach from the scalp. It is often associated with itching and can be influenced by various factors, including dry skin, fungal infections or skin conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis.

Recommendation

Pityriasis simplex capillitii

Features

Pityriasis simplex capillitii, also known as dry scalp dandruff, is characterized by fine, dry scales that form without inflammation or redness of the scalp. This form of dandruff is usually caused by an increased cell turnover rate of the scalp and is often accompanied by a feeling of dryness and sometimes itching, but without the more severe symptoms of seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Recommendation

Shed

Features

Dandruff generally occurs on the scalp in two types - dry or greasy:

Dry dandruff is usually caused by excessive cleansing. If the care content of the products used for cleansing, especially shampoos, is not sufficient, the scalp dries out.
Oily dandruff, on the other hand, usually indicates a scalp fauna that is not in balance. In other words, the natural microbiome of the scalp is disturbed, which in turn stimulates the stratum corneum to form dandruff. Fungal diseases in particular can play a role here.

Dandruff of any kind is often accompanied by itching

Psoriasis on the scalp

Psoriasis is an inflammatory, non-contagious disease that can also occur on the scalp, especially at the hairline.

Psoriasis is primarily recognizable by reddish, scaly skin changes that can itch. The chronic disease typically progresses in episodes - sometimes with more severe, milder or no skin problems at all.

Recommendation
