Beard hair loss

Features

The technical term alopecia barbae refers to circular hair loss on the beard.

The first signs are often scaly skin. As a result, round, bald patches appear in the beard.

In rare cases, hair loss can spread to the eyebrows and hair on the head.

Beard lichen

Features

Beard lichen (medically known as "tinea barbae", also known as "ringworm of the beard" in specialist literature) is a skin disease caused by fungi that occurs specifically in men. Externally, it is characterized by reddish, scaly, round patches. In highly inflammatory forms, there is also often a fever and peripheral lymph node involvement. Forced forms of beard lichen do not heal themselves, but require antimicrobial treatment.
