How does neurodermatitis develop?

Due to inflammatory reactions, the protective function of the horny layer in the skin is impaired. This allows allergens, germs and irritants to enter the lower layers of the skin.
Other causes can be an imbalance in the skin flora and the alteration of certain genes, which lead to increased moisture loss from the skin.

The significance of the individual factors and how they interact has not been conclusively clarified.

 

How does neurodermatitis occur?

Allergic forms with more severe symptoms occur in about 30 to 40 % of all sufferers. Your immune system reacts to the allergens that have entered by forming antibodies that can trigger inflammation in the skin. This causes the skin to become irritated, reddened or even injured.

The disease often occurs in the first two years of life, typically between the third and sixth month of life. The course of the disease depends on age and may also disappear. A first disease in adulthood, on the other hand, is rare.

 

How is the clinical picture best treated?

Neurodermatitis is chronic and therefore not curable. However, with good skin care and appropriate medication, itching and skin rashes can be well managed. To alleviate symptoms such as itching, basic therapies with moisturizing and moisture-binding skin care products are used. In addition, irritants and extreme temperatures should be avoided during treatment.

For the treatment of atopic dermatitis HYPOGEN CARE has^® a special Care set developed that relieves symptoms and provides the skin with lasting care and moisture.

In the case of acute neurodermatitis (also in addition to medical treatment), apply a thin layer of Wound Care Lotion to the affected areas of skin and massage in gently. This process should be carried out several times a day until visible relief is achieved.

To cleanse the skin, only the Care Shampoo should be used. This cleanses and cares for the skin and hair without any further strain.
If the symptoms subside, the skin should continue to be creamed daily with the LLS care cream.
Even if the skin is tight, skin care with the LLS care cream in combination with the Wound Care Lotion makes sense.
