How does psoriasis develop?

The causes of psoriasis are not fully known, but a genetic predisposition, environmental factors such as stress, infections or medications, and a misdirected immune response are thought to play a role in the development of the disease. The misdirected immune response causes T cells to attack healthy skin cells and trigger an inflammatory response that ultimately leads to the formation of psoriasis lesions.
